Your offers don't matter

I see a lot of athletes posting their offers on numerous platforms. Congratulations, athletes; keep up the great work. Meanwhile, keep in mind, it’s not about how many offers you receive. It’s about the right opportunity and the best opportunity for you.

All you need is 1, that 1 opportunity for you. Your 25 to 50 offers don’t separate you from the athlete with 1 to 2 offers. Why? Because, when it’s all set and done, it’s about action. Can you produce? Can you continue to produce? Everything that you’ve done in High School and AAU no longer matters.

​

That’s why it’s important to make sure that you find the right program for you. Talk to the coaches. Build relationships, get the feel of the relationships. Trust your gut, trust your senses. Some programs are going to lie to you, and some are going to tell you the truth.

​

Don’t get caught up in the number of offers you have. Get caught up in finding the right offer for you. Hold yourself and the school accountable. Look for eye contact, handshakes, and backtrack if you must. While they’re interviewing you, make sure you’re interviewing them. Don’t be afraid, don’t be timid. It’s your future, take it seriously.
